Just a 10-minute walk away is the Wildlife Turtle Project Kapuhenwala, a conservation project which aims at protecting the nesting sites, thereby ensuring the eggs hatch without disturbance and the baby turtles can reach the ocean safely.
You can embark on a turtle watching excursion in the evenings to catch a glimpse of turtles laying their eggs.
It is a wonderful experience to glide almost silently through the lagoon and experience nature up close. You will see a lot of birds, water monitors and maybe even monkeys.

Mulgirigala is an important historic cave monastery. The caves extend over two levels of the steep cliff and feature impressive, colorful Kandyan paintings.
The temple complex is just as beautiful as Dambulla, only a little smaller, not as well known and therefore not as crowded.
The historic port city of Galle is considered by many to be the most beautiful city in Sri Lanka. The old town within the fortress built by the Dutch, Fort Galle, is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The alleys of the old town with their Dutch-style houses, stylish boutiques, whitewashed villas and historical museums invite you to stroll around.
The small coastal town of Mirissa has become a hotspot for whale watching. The best time for these tours is from November to April.

Hummanaya Blowhole is the only known blowhole in Sri Lanka and it is considered to be the second largest blowhole in the world. Its a natural blowhole and is caused when sea water rushes through a submerged cavern and is pushed upwards. The water fountain created by the geological feature shoots up every couple of minutes with the spray often reaching as high as 25 – 30 m.
